Mother Teresa
I share the same birthday with Mother Teresa's death day (well, almost - one day difference). Her deeds and strong character guided me throughout my life and taught me to have compassion for people & always strive to be a better person.
It is a shame & ironic & sad that the passing of such a GREAT woman is over-shadowed by the passing of another infamous (for VERY different reasons) woman, Lady Di and the 'mystery' that surrounded her death hogged the press & airways.
Mother Teresa was not a fashion icon, but an icon for compassion & charity. She dedicated her life to helping people & was infamous in her own way. But even a charitable people like her had her detractors ('enemies') - people who did not like HER WAY of doing things, for she is not afraid to speak her mind to get things done!!
Now Mother Teresa is long gone but I wish to remember her for not only her compassion but for her wisdom.
This is a bit of info about her from http://www.great-inspirational-quotes.com/mother-teresa-quotes.html
Born as Agnesa Gonxha Bojaxhiu (August 26, 1910 – September 5, 1997), Mother Teresa was a Roman Catholic nun of Albanian descent. She founded the Missionaries of Charity in India.
Mother Teresa's work among the poverty-stricken of Kolkata (Calcutta) made her one of the most well-known people in the world. She was also sometimes referred to as the "Angel of Mercy" and "Saint of the Gutter" by her supporters.
She's a remarkable woman and her wisdom will speak to your heart.
May you find great inspiration and humility from these Mother Teresa quotes!

- Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.-- Mother Teresa
- Do not think that love, in order to be genuine, has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired.-- Mother Teresa

OUR LIFE - A Precious Human Life
Everyday think as u wake up -
- Today, i am fortunate to have woken up
- I am ALIVE! I have a precious human life
- I am not going to waste it
- I am going to use all my energies :
- To develop myself,
- To expand my heart out to others
- To achieve enlightenment
for the BENEFIT OF ALL HUMAN BEINGS (and other living things)
- I am going to have kind thoughts towards others
- I am not going to get angry,
- Or think badly about others
I am going to benefit others as much as I can
Only at Amcorp Mall, can you see scenes like this! Alfred Ho, a visually-impaired singer sings oldies from his album, which he was promoting. The crowd was so inspired by an Elvis's song, this gentleman did an impromptu dance with his lady partner!

I don't know where these guys at EL CERDO got my cell no. but they have been SMSing me from time to time to try out their pork-based dishes, esp. at one time when I was a sworn vegan.. Coincidence?
One Sat, after an event at the KL Tower, I decided to walk to Berjaya Times Square via a road next to Hotel Istana.. An interesting road with old buildings from various periods, being turned into quaint B&Bs and bars/bistros/balconies & what not..
Another coincidence - As I was taking the photos (which I will share in later posts), I turned around, and there it was EL CERDO, the 'porkielicious' place..
Like their tag line ? - Nose to tail eating!!

I 'worked' with Amir more than a decade ago on Kee Thuan Chye's Scottish play. I was the costume designer. Wonder whether he remembers me. It was a wonderful time for me as this play brought together all the great thespians and proponents of English Literature in Malaysia.. Kee Thuan Chye, Mano Maniam, Jo Kukathas, Anne James, Lim Chee Seng, even Patrick Teoh.
